We love our jackets and there’s nothing like a new coat or jacket to liven up your wardrobe. Mannish Jackets are all the rage, but we don’t have to tell you!
If you’re like us and have gotten to the stage were you’ve had just about your fill of short, swingy and skippy jackets which have dominated the high street for the past couple of years. Then it’s time to straighten up and get a little more disciplined and sophisticated, to get in line with autumn's new smartness.
We're calling these mannish jackets but a wide spectrum of gents has inspired this selection: it's up to you to find your spiritual equivalent in the world of chaps' jacketing. The boyish will relate to the blazer style from Cos: wear it buttoned for a look close to Jil Sander (but not with a skirt, or it will look like a skirt suit gone wrong). The Florence & Fred number is pleasingly generous in cut, and will make you look as if you've ventured into your boyfriend's/brother's wardrobe. Thomas Burberry and Toast give more of a grandfather feel, with classic tweeds that look great over dresses. But it's Helmut Lang, king of clean, lean suiting, who heads up the family tree: the godfather of mannish jacketing.
